Margaret Braz

Margaret "Peggy" L. Braz, 81, Clarks Green, passed away Thursday at home surrounded by her family after an illness. She was the wife of the late Jack Braz, who died March 11, 2017.

Born in Scranton to Charles "Chick" and Lucy Rossi O'Malley, she graduated from Central High School and Lackawanna Business School. She worked for Imperial Oil before getting married and starting a family.

There was nothing Peggy enjoyed more than having her house filled with her children and grandchildren, all laughing and cheering a baseball, football or basketball game that was on television. She was the original "soccer mom," always supporting her children in their activities and sports. She was so proud of all their accomplishments.

Peggy had an unwavering passion for her faith. A deeply devoted Catholic, she relied on her faith and always had her rosaries close by and a candle lit for a special dedication. She contributed her 30 plus years as a breast cancer survivor to the faith and the good graces of God. Peggy was very generous, giving to many organizations from children with serious medical conditions to animals in need. She hated to see anything suffering.

In her later years, she enjoyed keeping her mind sharp by doing crossword puzzles, and watching any game show that challenged her. She was always sharing something new she learned from the Discovery and History Channels and Animal Planet. She even made her own score cards to fill in while watching her favorite New York Yankees.

Peggy's children would like to thank Dr. Michael Jalowiec and the wonderful staff at Moses Taylor and Allied Services for their outstanding care of Peggy throughout the years. A heartfelt thank you to Compassionate Care's Chris Grande Getz, and especially to nurse Lori Grudzinski who guided us through our mom's final hours. We will be forever grateful.

Peggy is survived by two daughters, Terri Erdmann and husband, Mark, Browndale; and Sandra Tailor and husband, John, Lomita, Calif.; two sons, Johnny, Clarks Green; and Christopher, Atlanta, Ga.; two beloved granddaughters, Cassie Erdmann, Endicott, N.Y.; and Carly Erdmann and fiancé, Brian Nebzydoski, Baltimore, Md.; cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Laurie, who died in 2000, and a sister, Annette Orzel.

The funeral will be Wednesday, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Church of St. Gregory, 330 North Abington Road, Clarks Green, to be celebrated by the Rev. John M. Lapera, pastor. Interment will be private, Clarks Green Cemetery, Clarks Green.

The family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit, PA 18411.

The family requests no flowers. Memorial contributions can be made in Peggy's name to the Indraloka Animal Sanctuary, P.O. Box 155, Mehoopany, PA 18629.
