Anne Ellis

On a sunny spring day, Anne M. Ellis of Waverly passed peacefully at home. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Robert and Geraldine (Woods) Ellis. Though she left us too soon, her enduring faith, infectious optimism, sharp wit and fierce love for family and friends will forever strengthen and unite us.

A graduate of Abington Heights High School, she continued her education at Bloomsburg University and the University of Scranton. Anne worked as an accomplished and respected paralegal in the Scranton and Wilkes-Barre area. More recently, Anne found passion and purpose in her work with Luzerne County's Court Appointed Advocates for Children ("CASA"). In 2016, Anne was sworn in as a court appointed special advocate. Her commitment to CASA, as well as her amazing advocacy on behalf of abused and neglected children was abundantly clear. In May 2019, Anne was promoted to the position of program director. During this time, Anne served as a compassionate advocate for two children and had two wonderful outcomes.

Anne's strength was rooted in her faith, she was a member of the Church of St. Gregory, Clarks Green.

Anne was blessed with four children: a daughter, Devon Conaboy and her husband, Tom Wheeler, Clarks Summit; three sons, Quinn P. Conaboy and wife, Lauren, Clarks Green; John "Max" Conaboy, and wife, Katie, Springfield; and Liam J. Conaboy, Vista, Calif.; three sisters, Elaine Ellis Regan, Clarks Summit; Jeanne Ellis Quinn and husband, Dr. Richard Silbert, Clarks Summit; and Leslie Ellis Lombardy and husband, Dr. Marc Lombardy, Millburn, N.J.; a brother, Steven R. Ellis and wife, Erica, Charlotte, N.C.; and brother-in-law, Dennis Lilik, Lewes, Del. Anne found joy and love in her eleven "cherished ones": Jaymes K. Conaboy, Thomas J. Wheeler, Dane P. Wheeler, Colton J. Wheeler, Quinn T. Conaboy, Brady E. Conaboy, Celia W. Conaboy, Brennan J. Conaboy, Mickey Q. Conaboy, Jack E. Conaboy and Maggie E. Conaboy.

Anne cared deeply for her nieces and nephews, Joseph F. Regan, Kate E. Quinn, Shane E. Quinn (Gretchen), Cooper J. Ellis, Riley M. Ellis, Cora M. Ellis and Gerald R. Ellis, Ellis W. Lombardy, Ava M. Lombardy, Russell J. Lombardy, Rhea Duke, Holly J. Ellis and Elizabeth Burkell (Joseph).

She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph "Jay" Jeremiah Ellis (Nov. 10, 1995); and sister, Kathleen M. Lilik (March 11, 2012).

Anne was a loyal friend, with a lifetime of cherished friendships and cherished memories. Anne's friends were a constant source of support and laughter throughout her life.
