Anand Nuguri

Anand Nuguri, 61, of South Abington Twp., passed away on Sunday surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Anuradha Nuguri.

Anand was born in Nizamabad, India on November 8, 1959 to the late Dr. Rangiah Nuguri and his wife Shyamala. In addition to his wife, Anand is survived by his sons: Raghu and Rohit Nuguri; siblings: Janarthan Nuguri (India), Hema Lata Vusikala (India), Rani Dasari (California), Sagar Nuguri (India) and Padma Gonae (India); and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a sibling, Bala Kishna Nuguri.

Anand earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in India and worked as a manager for Walmart and in Human Resources for Adil Analytics. Before moving to PA in 1989, Anand worked in various studios as a photographer. He loved playing badminton, carrom board, and card games  with his friends in his freetime. In 1991, he married Anuradha, sharing close to 30 beautiful years of marriage together.

Outside of work, Anand enjoyed firing up the grill for dinner, gardening in his yard and taking strolls in the neighborhood. He also enjoyed road trips and traveling the world to see new sights. He loved watching sports of every kind, but was most fond of basketball and football. Above all else, Anand loved spending time with his family. He was incredibly proud of his family and attended as many events and competitions as he could. His sons have referred to Anand as the “Kobe of Dads.”

If you’ve ever met Anand, chances are he made you smile. From his closest family members, to colleagues and even customers at work, his warmth and genuine conversation was always welcoming. Anand was the jokester in the family and always made others laugh. He was constantly on the dance floor at weddings, playing games with all the children and engaging in “Telugu Muchatlu.”

Anand truly loved living in the beauty that is northeast PA. He was a proud American, yet held strong to his Indian roots and heritage. He was a devout Hindu and kept cultural traditions strong in his family.

Although gone too soon, Anand wholeheartedly lived up to his namesake meaning “happy” which sums up the joy he brought us all.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 11am-1pm on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 111 Colburn Avenue, Clarks Summit, PA 18411. A private cremation will follow at Jennings-Calvey’s on site crematory.
