Tom Rose

Thomas Harold Rose 49, Clarks Summit, died Tuesday, in the Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Facility. He was the loving husband of 18 years married to the former Colleen Durkin.

Born  April 11, 1969 in Scranton, he was the son of Harold and Susanne (Papa) Rose. He was a 1987 graduate of Central High School, he received his bachelor of science degree in computer science in 1991 from Marywood University. He was employed at Met Life, Clarks Summit as a Senior Software Developer.

Tom at an early age was a natural volunteer and provided help to others in the community. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop # 84 of East Scranton where he  earned his Eagle Scout honor.  He earned his Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license at the age of 18 while volunteering with Keystone Ambulance Service in Scranton, PA.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Parish and the Clarks Summit Fire Company # 1, Inc., where he served on the board of trustees and was a former EMS Lieutenants responding to many EMS calls.  He also volunteered with the Dickson City Community Ambulance.  A computer whiz, he developed software for volunteer fire companies for fund raising and firehouse management. He successfully co-chaired the annual fund drive for the Clarks Summit Fire Co. for many years.

Tom was a devoted family man who loved his wife and cherished their sons. He was a gentle, kind hearted person who would always do anything for anyone. He was always willing to help others. His love, kindness and volunteerism will be sadly missed.  The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart and Dr. Eliot Friedman of Lehigh Valley Physicians Group Hematology Oncology Cedar Crest for their tremendous compassionate care.

Also surviving are two sons: John Evgheniy and Andrew Nickolai at home, a brother: David Rose, Dunmore,  a sister: Tara Rose Sirianni and husband Eric, Dalton, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and a great nephew.

The funeral will be Monday at 9:30 am from Our Lady of the Snows, 301 South State Street, Clarks Summit, PA, with services by Msgr.  Joseph G. Quinn, Pastor.   Interment Clarks Green Cemetery.  The family will receive relatives and friends Sunday from 3 - 6pm at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service, Inc., 111 Colburn Avenue, Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
