Ronald Calvey, 82, of Binghamton passed away surrounded by family, Saturday, September 6, at Lourdes Hospital.
Born June 17, 1932, in Scranton, PA, he was the son of the late Patrick A. and Sadie (Jennings) Calvey. A Binghamton resident since 1960, Ron graduated from Clarks Summit High School and University of Scranton with a Bachelor's of Science in Business.
Ron joined his family automobile business, Calvey Motors of Scranton, and was later president of Binghamton Motor Parts. After retirement, he worked part-time for Broome County Central Foods.
He was a member of Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Sons of Italy, Lodge 487, VFW and St. Paul's Church, Binghamton.
Ron is survived by one daughter, Beth (Calvey) Koerts, and husband Paul; three sons: Jeffry Calvey and wife Casey; Douglas Calvey and wife Donna; and Gregory Calvey and wife Lynne; his longtime companion, Marge Hergel; the mother of his children, Judy (Gavigan Calvey) Vetrano; one brother, Patrick Calvey; twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and "Tiger."
He was predeceased by son, Mark Calvey, and by two brothers, John Jennings Calvey and James Calvey.
Ron loved golf and was a longtime member of Binghamton Country Club. He was also a sports car enthusiast.
The funeral will be Wednesday with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Church of the Holy Family, 3600 Phyllis Street, Endwell, NY to be celebrated by Fr. Clarence F. Rumble. Interment with full military honnors at Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City.
