Richard (Rick) Lewis died peacefully in the morning hours of Thursday, July 23, 2026. At 90 years young, Rick left this life with a full and grateful heart. Rick, the loving husband of Pat Lewis for 62 years, was born on April 23, 1936 in Scranton, PA to the late Josiah and Peg Lewis.

Rick grew up in Clarks Green and took great pride in his hometown and his family. Rick attended Lehigh University where he met the love of his life, Patricia Kephart. Together, Rick and Pat were the proud parents of 4 daughters: Amy, Meg, Beth and Jo. His “Little Women” were the sunshine of his life, along with their spouses and his 11 cherished grandchildren.

Rick, a self taught drummer with incredible natural rhythm, met two fellow musicians at Lehigh and would go on to form “Romig, Carney and Lewis Orchestra”. This fortuitous connection would lead to a successful career as a professional drummer that included “gigs” at The White House for Presidents Reagan and Ford plus countless social engagements in NYC and Philadelphia. His bandmates Jerry Romig, Michael Carney, and Joe Claffy (in later years) would become his lifelong soulmates. Rick was also proud of his years of sales at Scranton Building Block, a company started by his father, Josiah Lewis.

Rick had a love of nature, the outdoors, camping, motorcycles and FISHING! He loved woods walks, taking his children on camping trips and giving them rides on his motorcycle! He took many fishing trips to Canada with his grandchildren. Rick's love of nature and adventure led him to Africa, where in his 40’s, he spent more than a month exploring with his best friend, Lowell Histand.

Rick was known for his warmth, wit, and sincere curiosity about others. His warm and charismatic smile drew people in and and made them feel important and loved. Whether he was admiring a classic car, chatting with a stranger, or making a baby smile, he had a gift for turning everyday interactions into meaningful connections. That gift for connecting with people stayed with Rick throughout his life. Among his many treasured friendships were those he made later in life in Clarks Summit. Even in his 80s, he was still making dear friends over dinner at Dino's, The Silver Spoon, and the Blue Bird Diner.

More than anything, Rick was moved by music. Harmonies, melodies, and rhythm energized him, comforted him, and gave him strength. Music wasn't simply something he loved—it was woven into every part of his being. One of his favorite songs that lifted him in his later years was “The Best is Yet to Come”!

Rick is survived by his sisters, Abigail Warman and Candy Ponchak and his brother, Josiah Lewis. His “Little Women”: Amy (Tripp) Broadbent of Waverly, Meg (Greg) Roth of Doylestown, Elizabeth "Beth" (Paul) Loosmann of Doylestown and Joey Nalty of Waverly, 11 cherished grandchildren—Emily and Molly Broadbent, Ali, Matt and Jane Roth, Maggie and Ellie Loosmann and Katie, Patrick, Grant and Charlie Nalty. Rick was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Kephart Lewis.

Rick’s celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 31st at 11:00 at The Church of Epiphany, 25 Church Hill Road, Dalton. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Epiphany. Interment at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Waverly at 12:15 p.m.
