Philip "Phil" Sullivan, 86, of Clarks Summit, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Phil lived a full life marked by faith, friendship, and a passion for the game of golf.
Phil was the beloved husband of the late Jeanne T. (Schreck) Sullivan, to whom he was married for 63 years. Born on March 18, 1940, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Edward and Wilma (Crockenberg) Sullivan. He graduated from St. Paul's High School in Scranton and went on to build a distinguished career in transportation, retiring as Vice President of Operations at Road Scholar Transport.
A man of faith and community, Phil was an active parishioner at Our Lady of the Snows Parish, where he regularly attended Mass. He was also a proud member of the Country Club of Scranton, where his love of golf was well known—a highlight of his golfing life came in 2016 when he scored a hole-in-one. Phil and Jeanne treasured their family and many friendships and made the most of every occasion, whether celebrating holidays or hosting gatherings with their close circle of family and friends. For the past 16 years he always had his beloved dog, Lola, by his side until her passing last year.
Phil is survived by his sons: Philip and his wife, Christine (Ruminski) Sullivan and grandson, Nicholas of Charlotte, NC; Matthew and his wife, Lori (Drasba) Sullivan and grandsons Connor and Jake of Clarks Summit, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother Dennis (Scranton), his sister Susan Farrell (Waymart), and his twin brother Michael (Montoursville).
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Gretchen, Marian and Angie of GEM Comfort Care as well as the caring staff of Elan Skilled Nursing and Rehab for the compassion and comfort they provided to Phil.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of St. Gregory Catholic Church, 330 North Abington Road, Clarks Summit. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Snows Parish, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
