Patrick John Welk 86, of South Abington Twp, died unexpectely on Monday at home. He was the husband of the late Margaret (Holzwarth) Welk who died in 2024.

Born March 9, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY Pat was the son of the late John and Katherine (Skorupska) Welk. He graduated from St. John's Prep in 1957 and honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. Pat worked as a Senior Systems Analyst for MetLife for over 30 years, beginning his career in Manhattan before relocating to the S. Abington Twp., location in the 1970s. He was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of the Snows Parish and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Pat was very actively involved in the community from being a coach and umpire for the Abington Little League to coaching the CYO basketball program and the Abington girls all star softball team to numerous summer championships. He enjoyed golf, cycling, and his daily morning school van runs. He was an avid NY sports and Penn State fan. Pat was also an amazing storyteller. His greatest love though was his family. He was a devoted grandfather and enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting events.

Pat is survived by two sons: Patrick (Dawn) Welk of Duryea, and Michael (Amber) Welk of Warsaw, IN; two daughters: Kathryn (Andrew Altemose) Walsh of Clarks Summit and Christine (Matthew) Kopanski of Reading; one brother, James (Millie) Welk of The Villages, FL, a brother-in-law, Jerry (Linda) Holzwarth of Spring, TX; grandchildren, Makenzie (Luke) Baker, Felicia (Robin) Wrobleski, Bryce and Dominick Welk, Paige Walsh, Sophia Welk, Margaret Kopanski, Jack Walsh, Ben Kopanski, and Trinity Pilosi; great grandchildren, Hayden Wrobleski and Banks Baker.

In addition to his wife who was the love of his life, he is preceded in death by a grandchild, Cowen Kumler.

Pat's funeral will take place on Saturday at 10am at Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State Street, Clarks Summit, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated. Pat and Marge will be interred on a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Queens, NY.
