Michael Patrick Dougherty, 34, a resident of Duryea and formerly of S. Abington Twp., died Tuesday at his home after a long battle with health complications.

Born August 16, 1991 in Scranton, he was the son of John "Jack" and Mary Ellen (Buckley) Dougherty. He graduated from Scranton Preparatory School in 2010 and went on to earn his bachelors degree from Keystone College. He worked as Operations Manager for Bank of America. Michael was an avid sports fan. In his younger years he was a member of the OLP cross country and basketball teams, Gators swim team and played in Abington soccer and baseball leagues. During High School he played baseball and football for Scranton Prep.

In addition to his parents, Michael is survived by brothers Sean, Ryan and Brandon Dougherty, nieces Kyla and Emma, aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by a sister Kaitlyn Dougherty.

The funeral will be Monday at 12pm at the Church of St. Gregory, 330 N. Abington Road, Clarks Green, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment to follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the church.
