Merrill A. Greene Jr., 82, of Taylors Island, Md., and formerly of Clarks Summit, died Wednesday at home.
Born Oct. 7, 1932, in Chinchilla, son of the late Merrill and Florence Greene, Merrill attended Clark Summit High School, class of 1951. An Army veteran, he served in Germany with the 109th Infantry 28th Division when it was activated during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1953 with the rank of Sergeant. Merrill worked with his father at Greene Radio, Scranton, and later as an auto mechanic and auto bodyman. He always enjoyed stock car racing and watching NASCAR on TV.
He is survived by his former wife, Esther Sanders Greene, and their three sons, Merrill and his wife, Cindy; and David and Richard Scott, all of Clarks Summit; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his younger brother, Richard; an infant son, Daniel; and his second wife, Georgia M. Greene, who died in 2011.
Interment will be held at the convenience of the family at Abington Hills Cemetery, South Abington Twp.
