Maureen Anne Horan, 86, Scranton, Pennsylvania, died Friday, in Green Ridge Health Care Center.

Born August 4, 1939 in New York City, NY she was the daughter of the late Dr. William and Anne (O'Dea) Horan. Maureen graduated from St. Mary's High School in Manhasset, NY. She went on to become a Registered Nurse, graduating from St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing in New York City.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from St Joseph’s College in Standish, Maine.

In her early nursing career, she was involved in the very beginnings of Cardiac Care. She worked at St Francis Hospital in Roslyn, New York in the new open heart surgery department. She also worked at North Shore Hospital in Manhasset, New York during the experimental stages of Cardiac Catheterization.

Survivors include her sisters, Jeanne Marie Swick and husband John of Mahopac, NY, Anita Germano and husband Anthony of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and Marian Kropa and husband Wayne, of Clarks Summit, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her brother Thomas Horan and her sister, Sheila Milliron.

The funeral will be on Friday, June 26, at 10am at Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State Street, Clarks Summit, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated. Interment, Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.
