Mary Ann Leiber

Mary Ann (Obelinas) Leiber, 93, of South Abington Twp., died Monday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Dickson City. She was the widow of Stanley Bernard Leiber, who died July 4, 1981.
Born June 2, 1929, in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and late Valerya (Danella) Obelinas. She was a graduate of Factoryville High School. Mary helped on the family dairy farm in West Abington Twp. and also had been employed for more than 43 years by Bendix Aviation, Montrose, where she worked as a calibrator. She was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Abingtons, Dalton, where she was an active volunteer.
Mary was a gorgeous lady who was active and a member of Abington Senior Center having served on advisory council and the Forever Young Group. She enjoyed greeting others on election day where she was a pole worker. Mary by nature was an organizer and would encourage others to get involved for their own enjoyment. She met friends and enjoyed the social activities while at Elan Gardens. Mary was of Lithuanian decent. In her earlier years living at her home she enjoyed working in her yard, hours upon hours of self-taught beautiful crocheting, old fashioned baking and, most importantly, devoted to her faith even in her last hours of life in praying her rosary. Her life was simple hard work family and faith. The family would like to thank Elan Gardens for her superb care and compassion, especially her best buddy Diane, along with several of her favorites.
She is survived by a daughter, Deborah Ann Lowrie and her husband, Tom, Dalton; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by companion, Charlie Hammond; two brothers, Charles and Joseph Obelinas; and a sister, Helen Kurosky.
The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by the Rev. Arbogaste Satoun at Our Lady of the Abingtons, 700 W. Main St., Dalton. Interment, St. Joseph Cemetery, Scott Twp. The family will receive relatives and friends Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Abingtons, 700 W. Main St., Dalton, PA 18414. For directions or to leave an online condolence, visit the funeral home website.    Mary’s care has been entrusted to the care of the Jennings-Calvey.
