Mary Lou Gebert Gillette, 70, Dunmore, died Thursday in VNA Hospice Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center. She was the wife of Alfred J. Gillette. The couple was married more than 37 years.
Born Aug. 24, 1943, in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Frances H. and Gertrude Rita Longworth Gebert. A Dunmore resident, she was a 1960 graduate Abington Heights High School. She began her professional career as a telephone operator for Commonwealth Telephone Co. and later was employed by C.B. Scott Plumbing Supply, Scranton, as an executive secretary. She was a member of Imaculate Conception Church, Scranton, and a former member of Our Lady of the Snows Parish, Clarks Summit.
Also surviving are two brothers, Robert "Butch" and wife, Bonnie, Clarks Summit; and Frank and wife, Betsey, Wesley Chapel, Fla.; a stepson, Alfred J. Gillette Jr. and wife, Carol; stepdaughter, Kathleen Gillette; stepgrandson, A.J. Gillette, all of Scranton; nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held with a blessing service by Monsignor James J. McGarry, pastor, Our Lady of the Snows Parish, with interment in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. Family and friends served as pallbearers.
