Mary Ellen Thomas

Mary Ellen Thomas, 76, of Clarks Summit, died on Wednesday, in Allied Skilled Nursing Facility after an almost 5 year battle with Parkinson's disease. She was the wife of Rege Thomas. The couple has been together since 1967.

Born April 8, 1949 in Newark, NJ she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Frances (O'Conner) Oels.

Mary Ellen graduated from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA in 1971, with a Bachelor of Science in Education. After graduating she also pursued an Early Childhood degree and worked with young children for a time. She used her culinary skills to manage her Church rectory while having a small catering company in NJ before moving to Pa in 1997.

Survivors in addition to her loving husband, are daughters Jessica Herminston, Bridget Koshney, Andrew Thomas, Matthew Thomas, sister, Sharon Hanover, and 3 grandchildren, Emily, Marissa and James.

She is preceded in death by a daughter, Casey Thomas, and brother, Edward Oels.

The funeral will be on Monday at 12pm at Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Services, 111 Colburn Avenue, Clarks Summit, with Rev. Frank Passetti presiding. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home from 10-12 at the funeral home.
