Martin (Marty) S. Cieless, 82, of Dalton, died on Monday, at home, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Born Nov. 15, 1941 in Scranton, he was the son of the late Frank and Evelyn (Habuda) Cieless. He grew up in Scranton and in the early 1980s moved to the Fleetville area. Marty was employed 36 years as a truck driver, working 26 years for Fowler and Williams FreightLines and 10 years for APA Transport. He was a proud member of the Teamsters union and the National Rifle Association. Marty also honorably served his country in the Army National Guard.

Marty was an avid and skillful outdoorsman who traveled the country hunting a wide variety of game including pheasants, white tailed deer, mule deer and elk. He also enjoyed spending time with his dog, Bristol, who was his constant shadow for the last few years.

Surviving are one son, Martin Cieless and wife Gianni of Bloomsburg; and four grandchildren, Joshua, Mitchell, Samantha and Sidney.

Marty’s family and friends would like to extend a special thanks to all his Geisinger doctors and nurses, the nurses and aides from Visiting Angels and the nurses from Hospice of the Sacred Heart. He would also like to express his gratitude to Barry and Linda Koelsch and the Sheruda family, who all assisted with his medical needs over the past few months.

A private cremation will take place at Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit. Memorial contributions may be made to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter.
