Margaret Kelly

Margaret Mary (O'Hara) Kelly, 83, of Clarks Green, died Sunday at home. Her husband of 38 years is the late Edward J. Kelly, M.D., who died July 23, 2000.Born July 24, 1932, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Gabriel Thomas and Margaret (Gleoggler) O'Hara.She moved to Clarks Green in 1969, having lived in New York, N.Y. She is a 1950 graduate of Marywood Seminary and received her Bachelor of Science in dietetics from Marywood College in 1954. She began her professional career as a dietitian for the Russell Sage Institute of Research at New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center, New York, N.Y., and served as chief dietitian from 1956 to 1961. She was chief dietitian for the Cincinnati Jewish Home, Cincinnati, Ohio, from 1961-1962 and a member of the New York Academy of Sciences. Later, she was a proud homemaker raising her family for over 50 years. She was a member of the Church of St. Gregory, Clarks Green, a faithful supporter of the Society of Jesus, New York and Baltimore provinces. Also a member of the Marywood Seminary Alumnae Association, the Country Club of Scranton and the Sant' Andrea Society. Surviving are three sons, Dr. Edward J. Kelly and wife, Terese Hammerle, Boston; Thomas Kelly, Chicago; Francis P. Kelly, Ph.D., Scranton; a daughter, attorney Elizabeth Kelly, Allentown; nieces and nephews.She was also preceded in death by sister, Rita O'Hara Bonny.The funeral will be Friday from the Church of St. Gregory, 330 N. Abington Road, Clarks Green, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., to be celebrated by the Rev. John M. Lapera. Interment at Cathedral Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends Friday at the church from 10 to 10:45. Arrangements are entrusted in the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit. Memorial contributions may be made to Church of St. Gregory, 330 N.
