Mae Farrell Hopkins, Dalton, died Friday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Facility, Dunmore. She was the wife of Donald J. Hopkins Sr., who died Aug. 28, 2013. The couple was married more than 63 years.Born April 7, 1925, in Scranton, daughter of the late Peter J. and Maida Leppert Farrell, Mae was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and was a dedicated homemaker, and loving wife, mother and grandmother.She was a devout member of Our Lady of the Snows Parish, and an avid golfer belonging to the Scranton Canoe Club. Mae was also active in the community and was a member of the Century Club of Scranton.Surviving are a daughter, Deborah M. Hopkins, Dalton; three sons, Donald J. and wife, Donna, South Abington Twp.; Robert P. and wife, Ilaya, Bethesda, Md.; and Mark S. and wife, Michele, Scranton; four grandchildren, Leigh, Dana, Owen and Graham; nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews.She was also preceded in death by her beloved granddaughters, Elizabeth M. Hopkins and Virginia M. Hopkins; daughter-in-law, Julie Platt Hopkins; and five siblings, William Farrell, Alice Loughman, Matthew C. Farrell, Peter J. Farrell and Vera Gaynord.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.The family will receive relatives and friends Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit.
