Linus Mic Opalka

Linus Mic Opalka peacefully took his final rest in the loving arms of his parents, Amy McCarthy and Cody Opalka, Clarks Summit. Linus's grandfather, the late Joseph McCarthy, now eternally embraces him in heaven.

Linus was born June 30, 2022, at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton. During his short time, he enjoyed cuddling his little handmade bunny, and being held close by his parents. The cherished love and spirit of Linus will remain with his family forever. He left an everlasting impression on the hearts of all he met. He is now an Angel watching over his parents.

Linus's legacy has already made an impact by way of the Gift of Life Donor Program. Linus's parents in their generous decision know that Linus's tissue donation will help in the hope of giving life to others through the continuous research efforts at Harvard University and Boston Children's Hospital.

Also surviving are Linus's maternal grandmother, Cheryl McCarthy, Carbondale; paternal grandparents, Edward and Deborah Opalka, Mayfield; great-great-aunt, Stella Fox, Carbondale; aunt and uncles, Megan and Jack Rubano, Waverly; Joseph Opalka, Austin, Texas; Jessica and Michael Ferony, El Paso, Texas; Brittany and Taylor Henry, Ashburn, Va.; cousins, Michael, Jacob and Benji Ferony, El Paso, Texas; great-aunts and great-uncles, James Costolnick, Starlight; Margaret and Robert Opalka, Jermyn; Suzanne Alden, Holland; and Thomas and Katie Filipovits, South Carolina.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Joseph McCarthy; great-grandparents, James and Mary McCarthy; Betty and John Cosgrove; great-grandmother, Beatrice Costolnick; great-aunt, Tammy Lisowski; great-uncle, Richard Alden; and cousin, Michael Lisowski.

Linus's parents would like to extend a tremendous amount of gratitude to all of his doctors, especially Dr. Anastasiya Latushko, specialists and wonderful nurses at Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware. Along with the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware, they were all instrumental in helping our family through this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Nemours Children's Hospital of Delaware by phone, 302-651-4828, or online, www.nemours.org/givingtonemours. Donations are also welcomed to the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware (online at www.rmhde.org).

A private Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by the Rev. John M. Lapera at the Church of St. Gregory, Clarks Green.
