Linda Rose Gensiejewski died peacefully on January 4, 2026, after a long illness, at Allied Skilled Nursing in Scranton, PA at age 82. She was the widow of Gerald G. Gensiejewski Sr. who died February 27, 1988.

Linda was born in Yonkers, NY and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Zinkiewicz) Siuta. She was a graduate of St. Casimir’s School and St. Clare’s High School in Yonkers. She furthered her studies at Hunter College until her marriage.

As a young adult, Linda worked at WT Grant Department Store, where she met her future husband and the love of her life. She and her husband began raising a family on Long Island,NY for a dozen or so years until a career change for her husband led the young family to Clarks Summit in 1976. The area became the adopted home town of the family, and it is where the family and Linda flourished. Linda was immersed in the community and was an active member of the Welcome Wagon which, while helping other families become acquainted with the area, enabled her to enjoy a large social network allowing her to host dinner and pinochle parties at her home. Linda’s passion for her beloved community was shown in her support for the Abington Heights Football Booster Club and her ties to Our Lady of the Snows Parish. In fact, she wrote a song for the football team entitled “Here Come the Comets”, which became a fan favorite.

Although Linda was never intentionally the primary earner in her family until her husband’s passing, she held a series of positions in local businesses through which her endearing personality also allowed her to make numerous friends and acquaintances. Some of the varied positions include, working as a tax preparer for a local insurance agency,manager/bookkeeper/server for local Clarks Summit and Viewmont Mall eating establishments including The Snack Shack, The Groaning Board, The Depot and The Summit Diner. Later in her career, she worked as a Customer Service Shift Leader at JC Penney Catalog Center in Moosic as well as a Bank Teller at PNC in Chinchilla.

Linda’s zeal for life could be found in spending time traveling with her friends and family. She especially enjoyed family trips to Myrtle Beach. She was also able to travel to many states, including Alaska and Hawaii, as well as visit numerous Caribbean Islands, Canada, Mexico and France. Linda was especially proud of her Polish heritage, with the family Christmas party always ending in the breaking and sharing of the oplatek. She was a great cook and enjoyed making babka, pierogi, placki, nalesniki, kapusta soup, chrusciki, makowiec, paczki and many others. Linda was also into canning fruits, vegetables, sauces and homemade jams. Above all,she loved nothing better than a rousing rendition of The Chicken Dance at special occasions.

Linda will be missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her three children including her son, Gerald Gensiejewski Jr and his wife Laura, her son Jeffrey Gensiejewski and his wife Kim Reese of Victor, NY and her daughter Karen Houtz and her husband Rick of Chester, NJ, a brother Joseph Siuta and his wife Leah of Hurley, NY and a sister Ellen Dunn and her husband Robert of Middletown, CT. Linda especially adored her grandchildren, Alexa Gomez and her husband Blake, Amanda Gensiejewski, Gerald Gensiejewski III, Reagan Gensiejewski, Ben Gensiejewski, Luke Houtz, Colin Houtz and Abbey Houtz.

Visitation will be held at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral Home, 111 Colburn Avenue in Clarks Summit, PA from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM on Saturday, January 17th, followed immediately by a Mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S.
