Libby Hoinowski

Libby P. (Post) Hoinowski, 69, Clarks Summit, died Saturday at home. Her husband of 49 years, Roy Joseph Hoinowski, died Sept. 30, 2014.Born Sept. 17, 1945, in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Robert J. and Jane (Burres) Post. A lifelong resident of Clarks Summit, she was a 1963 graduate of Abington Heights High School. A lifelong learner, Libby received her bachelor's degree in art history from Centenary College for Women, Hackettstown, N.J. She later continued her studies by earning her Montessori teacher certification and in 1988, a second bachelor's degree in English from Marywood University. An educator by nature, she taught at the Children's Learning Workshop - Montessori School, Scranton, before teaching early childhood education at the YMCA, Dunmore, in the preschool department. She was also editor of the Abington Journal in the 1960s and early 1970s.Libby was proud of her heritage and her family's business, R. F. Post Mayflower Trucking. Her natural tendencies throughout her life enabled her eclectic cooking skills, her handcraft and gardening abilities and her avid collecting of antiques. She treasured the old ways, and shared them with her family. An excellent cook, she used many organic foods in her gourmet recipes. She was an avid gardener, growing her own vegetables and attending to her many lush flower beds. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, having made many beautiful sweaters. A fun person, she enjoyed conversations with others, and, in her instinctive manner, she had a special way of teaching, allowing others to learn from her conversation.
