Lawrence Alan Yeager (affectionately known as Clarence), 74, South Abington Township, Pennsylvania, died Sunday at Geisinger Community Medical Center due to complications from diabetes. He was married to his best friend, Mary (Manglaviti) Yeager, for nearly 54 years.
Born November 9, 1951 in Binghamton, NY, Larry was the son of the late Jack and Ruth (Taylor) Yeager. He graduated from Johnson School of Technology with an associate's degree and worked as a mechanical designer for several firms throughout his career before retiring in 2016 from Foth, a private contractor for Proctor and Gamble.
Lawrence will be remembered for his gentle and compassionate nature. Beyond his quiet demeanor he possessed a fierce and gentle spirit, doing anything and everything to support and uplift his family. Larry had an affinity for corny jokes, impeccable taste in music, a deep love for animals, and was a gifted gardener.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Justine Yeager, brothers, John Yeager (Louise), James Yeager, and sister, Lynne Bruzek (Bob), and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sisters-in-law, Carole Yeager and Linda Rafos, mother-in-law, Agnes Manglaviti, and brothers-in-law, Paul Datti and Donald Wickizer.
The funeral mass will be on Friday at 10am at Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State Street, Clarks Summit. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 5-7pm at Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 111 Colburn Avenue, Clarks Summit. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Cats & Dogs of Nay Aug Park, Scranton Public Library, or an organization of the donor's choice.
