Julie Conway Loftus, 77, formerly of Waverly, died Dec. 23, 2021, at Green Ridge Care Center, Scranton. She was the wife of the late Atty. Peter Godwin Loftus Sr., who died June 8, 2019. The couple had been married more than 53 years.

Born Dec. 15, 1944, in Johnstown, she was the daughter of the late Stephen J. and Elizabeth "Betty" (Dunn) Conway, who owned and operated a funeral home in Johnstown. A 1962 graduate of Sacred Heart Country Day School, she furthered her education at Marymount College, Tarrytown, N.Y. A professional artist, Julie owned Gilded Lily Ltd., Waverly. A recovery specialist for Marworth Treatment Center, Waverly, Julie was extremely grateful to have entered a serine life of joy, peacefulness and spirituality and it was her desire to help others and actively pursued 12-step work at Marworth.

She was a member of the Church of St. Gregory Parish, Clarks Green, and a talented musician and artist. She was an avid supporter of the activities in which her children participated, especially competitive swimming.

An active community leader and volunteer, she was proud of her instrumental role with the Junior League of Scranton in preserving the Tripp Family Homestead.

She was a member of and served on the board of directors of Lourdesmont School, Clarks Green, the Anthracite Museum, the Junior League of Scranton, the Women's Resource Center and Community Concerts Association, all of Scranton.

Julie was honored to receive the following awards: the Margaret L. Richards Award - outstanding volunteer career Junior League of Scranton; the Volunteer of the Month for both The Scranton Times/Northeast Woman and the Voluntary Action Center.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Elizabeth "Betsy" (Andrew) Perron, Falmouth, Maine; a brother, Stephen (Jane) J. Conway III; two granddaughters, Emma Perron, Washington D.C.; and Grace Perron, Falmouth, Maine; two grandsons, Jackson Perron, of Washington, D.C.; and Connor Perron, Falmouth, Maine; sister-in-law, Beverly Calderone Conway; nieces and nephews including niece, Katie Conway Warrener, and nephew, Andrew Conway, both of Mountain View, Calif.; her extended family; and cherished loved ones, Rodney (Marja) Larsen, Orlando, Fla.; and Whitney (Craig) Davis, Pleasant Grove, Utah.

She was preceded in death by son, Peter Godwin Loftus Jr.; and brother, Michael Conway, F.D.

A blessing service of remembrance by the Rev. John M. Lapera will be Sunday at 5 p.m. in Church of St. Gregory, Clarks Green, 330 N. Abington Road, Clarks Green. The family will receive friends at the church 4 to 5 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated and was limited due to COVID-19 with interment at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.
