Judith W. Millett

Judith W. (Whitman) Millett, 84, of Clarks Summit, died on Wednesday, at home surrounded by her family.  She was the wife of the late Daniel James Millett.

Born January 20, 1940 in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late John and Zelda (McMullen) Whitman.

She graduated from Abington Heights High School in Clarks Summit and attended Keystone College in LaPlume.

Judy was always dedicated to her family, and her husband and best friend of 61 years, Dan Millett, was the perfect companion to a wonderful team. Judy enjoyed many years of being outdoors with Dan and their family. She loved to ski and be in the bright blue sky, from Elk Mountain to Vail, Colorado. Judy and Dan had many adventures together, and the road trip they made from Colorado to Alaska on the spur of the moment was something she talked about for years.

In the spring and summer Judy loved to work in her gardens, nurturing and creating spectacular displays of perennials and shrubs that provided dazzling color. She was a lover of birds, and she knew the songs, colors, and patterns of the different and interesting species she encountered throughout the year. Judy had a passion for books, and she loved to visit any bookstore and browse through the shelves, pulling out several and picking the right one to bring home. She had a love not just for reading, but holding a book and feeling the pages and the smell of a new novel waiting to be read. She loved a good story.

Surviving are her children: Stacie Rechlicz and husband Dr. David of Montrose and son Jack (wife, Samantha); Mari Doherty and husband Dr. John of Clarks Summit and sons Graham, Liam and Cullen; Danny Millett and wife Heidi and daughters Brynn and Bridget of Gill, Colorado; Todd Millett and wife Vickie and son Ty and daughter Emma of Clark’s Summit; Brett Millett and wife Nicole and sons Sam and Matt and daughter Anna of Clarks Summit; daughter in law, Katie Millett and sons Jake and Ben of Clarks Summit; siblings, Bonnie Matthews and husband John of Greene, NY, Kathie Walters of Dalton, John Whitman of North Port,Florida, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by son, Timothy Millett, granddaughter Emily Rechlicz and sister Virginia Brauer.
