Judith O'Malley Graziano

Judith O’Malley Graziano died July 25, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Attorney Russell J. O’Malley and Helen Burke O’Malley of Clarks Green.

She was a graduate of Marywood Seminary & Marywood College, and did post-graduate work there as well. She was the founder, and President of Northeastern Child Care Services from 1989 to 2012 and served as Honorary Director at the time of her death.

An active member of her community she served on several boards of directors including: The United Way of Lackawanna & Wayne Counties (member, past Chairman, past campaign Chairman), Scranton Area Foundation (member, past Chairman), Scranton Tomorrow (founding member), Third National Bank and Trust Company, Blue Cross of Northeastern PA and its Blue Ribbon Foundation, Keystone College (former trustee), Scranton Counseling Center (member, past Chair), All One Foundation and Charities, Margaret Briggs Foundation (trustee), Richard C. Marquardt Family Foundation, Eureka Foundation, Junior League of Scranton (sustaining member, Past President), the United Way of Pennsylvania, and Country Club of Scranton (former board member) . She was a founding member of the Voluntary Action Center (founding member) , University of Scranton ( Board of Regents), the Pennsylvania Association of Child Care Administrators, (board member) the Pennsylvania Governor’s Commission on Early Learning (board member).

Judy was the recipient of several awards including the Scranton Counseling Center (1997), Margaretta Belin Chamberlin Award (1998), the Frances A. Fuller Award, Friendship House (1993), and Marywood University Alumni Award for Human Services (2010).

She is survived by daughter Anne Graziano of Ransom and her partner, Kevin Russin of Throop, son James and his wife Vanessa of Evansville, IN, daughter Susan Graziano Glomb and her husband Robert of Oak Hill, VA, daughter Ellen Graziano of South Abington, and daughter Judy Graziano Kirk and her husband Kerry of Fairfax, VA.

Her grandchildren include Jennifer Lavelle and her husband Daniel Brady, DO., Kathleen Lavelle and her husband Alan Dakin, Christopher Glomb and his wife Sammy, Kelsey Glomb, Sean Graziano, Patrick Graziano, Caroline Kirk, Sarah Kirk, and two great-grandchildren, Harlee Graziano and Brayden Glomb.

She is also survived by sister Margaret O’Malley Cawley of Jacksonville, FL and sister Susan Campbell and her husband Richard of Balkan Hill, NSW, Australia, and sister-in-law, Dalida O’Malley of Clarks Green, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister Anne M. O’Malley, brothers William C. O’Malley, James J. O’Malley, Attorney Russell J. O’Malley, Jr., brother-in-law Joseph Cawley, and sister-in-law, Jane L. O’Malley. Also, nieces Catherine O’Malley, Aileen O’Malley, and Elizabeth O’Malley.

Judy was an avid golfer and especially enjoyed playing with her father and brother, Bill. She enjoyed museums, history, playing bridge and was a voracious reader. Her life was full and fast paced. But truly, family and food were center stage. She provided opportunities for her grandchildren to spend time with her and Ellen on special trips. The annual family excursions to Avalon and then Cape May were legendary. Judy was a marvelous cook and a meal at her table was always a special treat. Reading to her grandchildren and later cooking with them were cherished moments. While Judy was a driving force in the community and served on many boards with passion and commitment, the title she cherished most was “Nana”.

The funeral will be Friday, July 31, at Church of St. Gregory, 330 N. Abington Road, Clarks Green, with Mass to be celebrated at 11 am. Visitation 9 am – 10:45am.
