Joseph M. King

Joseph Michael King, 84, of Waverly Twp., died Saturday at Gino J. Merli Veterans Center. He was the husband of the former Margaret Keenan. The couple would have celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary on Aug. 16.

Born July 6, 1939, in Scranton, son of the late John and Mary (Fedor) King, Joe was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and studied business at the University of Scranton. He honorably served four years in the United States Navy. He was an appliance salesperson at Sears, Scranton for over 30 years and later worked at the PA Career Link unemployment office Scranton.

He was a member of Church of St. Gregory, Clarks Green.

Also surviving are a daughter, Maura King Zagorski and her husband, Bryan; a granddaughter, Amelia Bryn; and a grandson, Charles Joseph, all of Clarks Green; several nieces and nephews; also, a daughter, Jennifer Barucky, Scranton.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph and an infant Michael; a sister, Lois King; two brothers, Stephen and Richard King.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. from Church of St. Gregory, 330 N. Abington Road, Clarks Green. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton, with full military honors. The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday at the church from 10 to 11 a.m.
