John J. Romanowski 88, of Clarks Summit, died on Tuesday, in Gino Merli Veteran Center in Scranton. He was the husband of the late Nancy Romanowski who died in 2009.

Born July 6, 1937 in Wilkes Barre, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary (Federick) Romanowski. John graduated from G.A.R. High School in Wilkes Barre and went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Navy. He worked as a stock broker for Bear Stearns in New York and later for Acme Warehouses.

John loved gardening in his younger years, especially growing tomatoes. He enjoyed watching football, baseball and visits from his great grandchildren.

Survivors include John Romanowski Jr., and wife Ruthann of Scranton, Lisa Devaney and husband Thomas of Clarks Summit, and William Romanowski and wife Joyce of Swoyersville, grandchildren, Michael, Nicholas, Alex, Elora, Ariana, Peyton, and Imani, great-grandchildren, Casey, Mila, Sam, and Tessa.He is preceded in death by brothers, Charles and Gil Romanowski.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 10-11am at Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 111 Colburn Avenue, Clarks Summit. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
