JOHN (JACK) PALLO, 99 years young, of South Abington Township and formerly of Dunmore, passed away on June 26, 2026 at Allied Hospice. He was the son of the late John and Mary Motichka Pallo, Sr., of Dunmore. His wife of 61 years, the late Theresa Renner Pallo, predeceased him on February 20, 2020.

He graduated from Dunmore High School, Class of 1945. He attended the University of Scranton until called to active duty in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Upon discharge he began employment with the Veterans Administration Regional Office in Wilkes-Barre, and then transferred to the VA Hospital. It was there that he met his wife, Theresa, who also happened to be his boss! John was very proud of the fact that all five men in his family served in the Military, beginning with his Dad in WW1 and his brothers in all encounters after that.

After retirement John enjoyed gardening, and landscaping his home and the grounds of St. Gregory's Church, where he was a charter member. He lived a grateful life, with credits going out, first, to his Paternal and Maternal grandparents. They braved the struggles of immigration from their European homes in Slovakia through many obstacles to become successful in the USA. His beloved parents were blessed with a family of ten children, eight of whom survived and were raised to adulthood through the 1918 Spanish Influenza and the 1930's depression. Their work ethic was an inspiration to him.

John and Theresa enjoyed cruising and also their many trips to European countries, the highlight being their trip to Munich, Germany for a grand and emotional reunion with the family of John's father-in-law, who immigrated to the USA 48 years earlier and had not returned. Theresa met her German family for the first time.

John and Theresa formed many enduring friendships over the years, with special thanks going out to their friends for their cards, phone calls, meals, and support when he was caring for Theresa during her declining health. Many thanks to Fr. John Lapera and the staff at St. Gregory's Church, the physicians and nurses at Allied Services Rehab Hospital, Geisinger CMC, The Pines Senior Living, and Jennings-Calvey Funeral Home.

John is survived by his sister, Ruth Barone of Dunmore; his brother, Thomas and wife Murelette of Bladenboro, NC; his sister-in-law, Barbara Pallo of Dickson City; numerous nieces, nephews, grand and grand-grand nieces and nephews; and so many good friends. He was predeceased by sisters Madlyn Pallo Olivetti and her late husband, Armand Sr.; Marie Pallo; Anna Mae Pallo Ritzie and her late husband, Joseph; brothers James Pallo and late wife Mary Ann of Moscow; and Joseph of Dickson City; brother-in-law Daniel Barone Sr.; infant siblings Joseph and Dolores; and Theresa's parents Louise and Carl Renner.

The funeral will take place at 11am on Wednesday, July 8, at the Church of St. Gregory, 330 N. Abington Road, Clarks Green, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by Fr. John M. Lapera. The family will receive relatives and friends from 9-10:45am at the church. Military honors will follow. Interment will be private at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.
In lieu of flowers, John asked that you make a memorial contribution to the Church of St. Gregory or to your charity of choice.
