John Glynn

John Joseph Glynn, 77, of Clarks Summit, died Sunday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. He was the husband of the former Janet Quinn. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 27, 2013.Born Jan. 26, 1937, in Scranton, son of the late Martin and Louise Churchill Glynn, he was a graduate of West Scranton High School and received his Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of Scranton. He was the business manager at Community Medical Center for years and, before retirement, he was the business manager of the VNA of Lackawanna County. He honorably served his country in the Navy.John was a member of the Purple Club of the University of Scranton and Abington Memorial VFW Post 7069, past member of the Hospital Financial Management Association and Scranton Prep Parents Club. He volunteered on several fundraising committees, including the United Way of Lackawanna County and the University of Scranton's annual fund drive.John was devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. He especially enjoyed attending his grandsons' sporting events.The family wishes to extended its sincere gratitude for the compassionate care extended by Dr. Rudolph, Dr. Egan, Dr. Olsen, Dr. Koch and Dr. Doherty.He is survived by a son, Martin R. Glynn and wife, Jeanne, and their two daughters, Laura and Mary, Massapequa Park, N.Y.; two daughters, Mari Pacyna and husband, Dr. Gary, and their sons, Brandon and Connor, Clarks Summit; Colleen Moran and her husband, Brian, and their four daughters, Megan, Marissa, Molly and Melanie, Tunkhannock; a sister-in-law and husband, Joyce and John Jennings; two sisters-in-law, Ann Quinn and Margaret Quinn; nieces and nephews.He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia MacLane and Margaret Tasker; two brothers-in-law, Robert and John Quinn; and a nephew, Ryan Jennings.The funeral with military honors will be Saturday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, at the convenience of the family.The family will receive relatives and friends, Friday, 4 to 7 p.m., at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit. Abington Memorial VFW Post 7069 will hold services at 6:30.Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association , 150 Monument Road, Suite 100, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004; Our Lady of the Snows Building Fund, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit, PA 18411; or University of Scranton, 800 Linden St., Scranton, PA 18510.
