Jan C. Stampien, D.D.S

Dr. Jan C. Stampien, D.D.S., 70, of South Abington Township, died on Tuesday, in Regional Hospital of Scranton.  He was the husband of the late Marianne (Faust) Stampien who passed away on New Year’s Day in 2014. They were married for 32 wonderful years.

Born September 21, 1951 in Scranton, he was the son of the late Dr. Stanley F. and Dorothy W. (Dziakowski) Stampien.

Jan was a graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy and earned his Bachelors Degree from the University of South Carolina. He earned his Masters from Duquesne University and Doctorate from Temple Dental. Jan worked for many years as a dentist, owned his own practice, and was a member of the Lackawanna Dental Society.

He was an avid golfer and was one of the longest standing members of the Country Club of Scranton. Jan enjoyed going to the shore, Old Forge pizza, watching S.C. Gamecock football and 60s music. His greatest love though was his family, his late wife, daughter and grandchildren, who he cherished above all.

Surviving is one daughter: Ashley Stampien Ruane, CRNP, and husband Daniel of Clarks Summit; grandchildren, Carson and Charles Ruane; one sister: Denise Stampien  Coco and husband, Frank, of New Canaan, CT., and companion, Diane Alberigi of Clarks Summit; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  

He is preceded in death by his cousins, aunts and uncles.

The funeral will be Friday at 10:00 am from Our Lady of the Snows, 301 South State Street, Clarks Summit, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by Rev. John M. Lapera.  The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 5-7pm at Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 111 Colburn Avenue, Clarks Summit, PA. Interment will be private.
