Irma Falls

Irma L. Falls, of Nicholson, Pa., passed away Saturday evening, July 30, 2016, at her home with her loving family by her side. Born Feb. 28, 1928, in Throop, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Balassa) Lengel. Her husband, Joe Falls, predeceased her in 1988.

Irma was a graduate of Keystone College and Marywood University. She spent her career in education as the elementary librarian for the Lackawanna Trail School District.

She most cherished her role as mother to her children and MomMom to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was always at the center of every family gathering. Irma loved the written word in all forms, thoroughly researching every topic that interested her. She took great pleasure from her travels to destinations near and far, thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her wide circle of friends, and was the embodiment of her firm belief that it is never too late to aspire and achieve.

Irma is survived by her children, twins Ken Falls and wife, Robyn, Mount Holly, N.J.; Kathi Luytjes and husband, Rik, Sebastian, Fla.; daughters, Peggy Clark, Dalton; Mary Steele and husband Eddie, Nicholson; grandchildren, Sarah Sianis (Jim) Greensboro, N.C.; Ben Clark, Glenburn; Miles Clark (Kalea) Washington D.C.; Brent Falls (Kim) Haddonfield, N.J.; Jamie Smith (Tim) Mount Laurel, N.J.; Michelle Jolley (Chris) Vero Beach, Fla.; Tony Clark, Portsmouth, N.H.; Matt Falls, Neshanic Station, N.J.; Cody Steele (Andrea), Long Island City, N.Y.; great-grandchildren, Louis and AJ Sianis, Katherine, Nicholas and Andrew Clark, Henry and Alice Clark, Nathan Falls, Ty, Cole and Gage Smith, Alexis and Christopher Jolley.

She is also survived by siblings, John Lengel (Alice); Nancy Haudenschield; and Richard Lengel (Mimi); as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of Irma's life will be held Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016, at 2 p.m. in Evans Hall at Keystone College, One College Green, LaPlume, Pa. The family will receive relatives and friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Interment will be private.
