Irene Helen (Novis) Passaniti, 93, Clarks Summit, died on Tuesday, in Allied Services Hospice Center. She was the wife of the late Carmen M. Passaniti who died in 1986.
Born October 20, 1926 in Luzerne, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Catherine (Blanchard) Novis and sister of the late Francis “Sharkey” Novis and wife Dolores with whom she had a very close relationship.
Irene and Carmen owned and operated Passaniti’s 12 Acre Grove in Dalton for over 25 years. She was a devout parishioner of Our Lady of the Snows and Our Lady of the Abingtons Parishes. Irene enjoyed Bingo and loved going to the casino. Her greatest love was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Allied Services Hospice Center for their compassionate care for Irene.
She is survived by her children, Sandra Sipe and husband Denny of Camp Hill, Carmen J. Passaniti and wife Ann Marie of W. Abington Twp., and Barbara DeMeck and husband Jerry of Elmhurst; grandchildren: Ashley Malcolm and husband Phil, Marissa Passaniti, and Jerrid DeMeck; great-grandchildren: Hailey, CJ, and Austin; several nieces and nephews.
Irene is also preceded in death by her grandson, James Sipe.
The funeral will take place on Saturday at 12pm at Our Lady of the Abingtons Church, 700 W. Main St., Dalton, PA 18414 with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by Rev. Arbogaste Satoun. The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30-11:15am at Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 111 Colburn Avenue, Clarks Summit, PA 18411. Interment at a later date in Cathedral Cemetery.
