Gary A. Shaffer

Gary Shaffer, age 65, passed away peacefully shortly after celebrating his 65th birthday, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Known for his gentle heart and quiet strength, Gary leaves behind a legacy rooted in love, family, and a deep appreciation for life's simple joys. A man of many talents, Gary had a lifelong appreciation for trains, and a passion for woodworking. Whether building something with his hands or admiring the craftsmanship of others, he found satisfaction in creating and fixing, always working with care and precision.

Gary took pride in his work and was a dedicated employee at Forest Insulation for nearly 30 years and Westlake Plastics for over 10 years working in the woodshop department. He was known there not only for his hard work and reliability, but also for his steady presence and strong work ethic that left a lasting impression.

Most of all, Gary treasured the life he built with his beloved wife of 45 years, Darlene Shaffer. Their bond was one of unwavering devotion, built on years of shared memories, laughter, and enduring love. He is survived by Darlene and their three children: Son Jason Vo and his wife Maura, daughter Rosemary Shaffer and her longtime partner Jeffrey Banks, and son Shawn Shaffer and his wife Tannah.

Known affectionately as "Pop Pop” Gary was a proud and loving grandfather to Gavin, Ella, Charlotte, and Emmett, and great grandfather to Paislee.

Gary is also survived by his sisters, Linda Koch and Joann Shiffer, who remained a constant source of love and support throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Shaffer, and his brother, Jerry Shaffer.

Those who know Gary will remember a man who found joy in the quiet moments - time spent in his workshop and the love that surrounded him each day. Though his passing leaves a deep void, his memory will live on in the hearts and hands of those who carry on his legacy.
