Elizabeth R. Farrell O'Hara, R.N., 89, of Clarks Green, died Thursday, June 28, 2012 in Geisinger Community Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of Joseph O'Hara for 32 years.
Born July 11, 1922, in Pleasant Mount, she was the daughter of the late Frank J. and Anna McGraw Farrell. She was a graduate of Pleasant Mount High School and, in 1945, graduated from Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing and received her Bachelor of Science degree from College Misericordia, in 1970. A lifelong care provider, she was employed all of her professional career, more than 40 years, by Community Medical Center. She retired from CMC as director of infectious control. She had served as head nurse for various departments while at CMC. Elizabeth was a faithful member of the Church of St. Gregory, Clarks Green, and its Women's Guild; the Century Club of Scranton and the Historical Society of Pleasant Mount.
Also surviving are two daughters, Joanne O'Hara, Pocono Summit; and Marie Bianca and husband, Robert, Glendale, Ariz.: a grandson, Michael Bianca and wife, Rebeccah, Morrisville, N.C.; a brother, Paul Farrell and wife, Dolores, Honesdale; two sisters, Julia Leonard, Rock Lake; and Theresa Farrell, Chevy Chase, Md.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, John and Francis; three sisters, Beatrice Farrell, Ann Farrell Lynch and Mary Farrell O'Hara.
The funeral will be Monday from Church of St. Gregory, 330 N. Abington Road, Clarks Green, with Mass at 10 a.m. to be celebrated by the Rev. John M. Lapera. Interment, St. James Cemetery, Pleasant Mount.
The family will receive relatives and friends Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit.
