Eliseo Velez

Eliseo Grijaldo Velez, 88, of Scranton, died Saturday at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of over 65 years to the former Lourdes Segovia.

Born Sept. 22, 1928, in the Philippines, he was the son of the late Domingo and Rosario (Grijaldo) Velez. He was educated in the Philippines, where he became an accountant.

He formerly was employed by the state of Illinois as an accountant.

Also surviving are a daughter, May Velez Manahan and her husband, Dr. Ferdinand J. Manahan, Waverly; two sons, Mario Velez, Fresno, Calif.; and George Velez and his wife, Cecile, Chicago; and six grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Rene Velez and Oscar Velez; and a daughter-in-law, Margaret Velez.

Services and interment will be private.
