Edward Woodyatt, 70, Scranton, died peacefully Aug. 23 at home. Born April 7, 1945, in Scranton, Ed was the son of the late Thomas Woodyatt and Lulu Groesbeck Woodyatt-Hughes. A 1963 graduate of Abington Heights High School, he excelled in math and accounting and applied his skills at Emery and as a supervisor at Haband. Ed was known for his friendly nature, quick wit and his great sense of humor. He enjoyed traveling and was a beloved member of the community. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Scranton, where he served as Eucharistic minister and as a member of the social action committee. Surviving are a son, Mark Woodyatt, Scranton; a daughter, Heather Finnerty; a sister, Lois J. Dettore and husband, Philip Jr., Clarks Summit; nephews, Philip J. III and Thomas J. Dettore, and Joe Libratore; granddaughter, Victoria Finnerty; and Ed's companion Theresa Snyder. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Thomas J. Hughes.Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit. Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
