Edith Mae (Neary) Lomeo of South Abington Twp. died Wednesday, surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren, in Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Facility, Dunmore. She was the wife of 50 years to the late John Lomeo.
Born in Carbondale, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Helen (Carden) Neary. She was a graduate of Ben Franklin High School, Carbondale. She was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Parish, Clarks Summit, and a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Chinchilla Hose Company.
Edith, whose children and grandchildren affectionately called her "Nanny," was the heart of the family. She devoted her life to her husband, children and grandchildren, and cherished family gatherings. Her passing is only consoled by the fact she is with her "Johny Dough Boy." Her gentleness will be sadly missed.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas, Clarks Summit; and Joseph and wife, Lisa, South Abington Twp.; two daughters, Margaret Lomeo Jeffrey and husband, Alan, Dalton; and Judy Mackiw and husband, Michael, Alexandria, Va.; six sisters, Helen Munley, Archbald; Rose Pauken, Toledo, Ohio; Isabel Yancheck, Mechanicsburg; Joan Scavo, Carbondale; Jean Hopple, Scranton; and Ann Dedato, Jim Thorpe; five grandsons, Thomas Lomeo, Joseph Lomeo Jr., John Lomeo, John and Sean Rock; four granddaughters, Jennifer Lomeo, Nicole Yager, Jessica Barth and Amber Lomeo; several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by brother, Fred Neary; a sister, Margaret Klickus; and a daughter-in-law, Debra Lomeo.
The funeral will be Monday from Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. to be celebrated by Monsignor Joseph G. Quinn. Interment, St. Joseph Cemetery, Scott Twp.
The family will receive relatives and friends Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
