Earl "Skip" Alfred Harmon

Earl "Skip" Alfred Harmon, 88, Dalton, died Sunday in Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. His wife of 56 years is the late Shirley Ann Shoener, who died March 8, 2019.

Born May 5, 1934, in Scranton, he was the son of the late Marion Harmon. He honorably served in the United States Army, having served two tours of duty as a mechanic and cook during both the Korean and Vietnam wars. A hardworking loyal employee, after several decades he retired from Fitchburg Coated Products/Mactac.

He was a member of the Lake Winola Volunteer Fire Company, where he previously was a firefighter. He currently was a board member serving as president of CMC-FCPI Federal Credit Union, Scranton.

Earl was a caring man with many stories who would always make you smile and laugh. He loved fixing and building almost anything while showing others how it's done and never worrying about the extra parts. He always had a need to stay busy.

A devoted loving husband, father and grandfather, he enjoyed playing pinnacle, blackjack fishing, mowing the lawn and hanging with his cats watching TV. A lover of animals, he enjoyed watching the birds and wildlife in his yard. What he loved most was spending time with family and laughing. He was a great man with a soft heart who will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He'll be forever 39.

Surviving are five daughters, Audra Jean Jones (Zee Meckwood), Nicholson; Suzanne Harmon, Dalton; Michele Joan Ann Harmon, (Ken Nyberg) Pottstown; Sharon Lee Heil Costa (Joe) Gilbertsville; and Deborah Marie Heil Schoonover (George) San Diego, Calif.; two grandsons, Daniel Scott Harmon, (Jenna Robinson) Factoryville; and Justin Earl Irish, Pewaukee, Wis.; and two granddaughters, Kristi Lee Nordmark, Gilbertsville; and Aurora Ann Nordmark (Travis Nugent) Boyertown.
