Dr. Stanley Markunas, III

Dr. Stanley A. Markunas, III, DO, 76, a resident of Dalton, died Sunday, in Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Facility.

Born July 4, 1942 in Camden, NJ, he was the son of the late Stanley A. and Sophia (Jacobs) Markunas. Stanley was a graduate of Villanova University and received his Doctorate of Osteopathy from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Stanley worked as a general practitioner with the Burlington Family Medical Center in Burlington, NJ and was also affiliated with Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County. He enjoyed boating at the Jersey Shore, traveling to Disney with his family, and was a devout Catholic. After retirement, Stanley always took the opportunity to read and research a plethora of different things, from revisiting old patient files to researching electronics and new technologies. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving is one daughter: Rebecca Tayoun (Jason) of Dalton and his grandchildren: Jason, Antonio, and Lorenzo Tayoun.

He is preceded in death by his sister Mary Markunas.

A private mass will be held at Our Lady of the Abingtons Catholic Church, Dalton with services by Rev. Arbogaste Satoun. Interment: The National Shrine Our Lady Of Czestochowa, Doylestown.
