Donna Marie Matlock, 70, of Falls, passed away peacefully at home on Monday May 26th, surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous four-year battle with cancer. She was the devoted wife of John Matlock for 51 years, and the couple would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary this June.
Born on July 24, 1954, in Scranton, Donna was the daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy Baronski. One of six siblings, she graduated from West Scranton High School, Class of 1972, where she met John, the love of her life, in 11th grade.
Donna had a gift for making holidays and family celebrations special, especially with her famous homemade pierogies, which were always a family favorite.
She is survived by her children: John Matlock Old Forge; Daughter-in Law Jessica DeMettro Matlock Shavertown; Erin Faux and husband Donald of Centermoreland; Timothy Matlock and wife Amy of Key West, FL. Also surviving are her cherished grandchildren: Donnie, Kaitlyn, John Vincent, and Jude.
Donna is also survived by her siblings: Joseph Baronski (Joann), Penny Fasula, Eugene Baronski (Pamela), Maryjane Zupon, brother-in-law Mark Matlock, sister-in-law Joann Baronski; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother John Baronski; brothers-in-laws Leonard Zupon and Kevin Matlock; niece Michelle Coleman; and nephew Lenny Zupon.
The family would like to thank the Hospice of the Sacred Heart for caring for her in her final days at home.
The funeral will be on Monday at 11am at the Church of St. Gregory, 301 N. Abington Rd., Clarks Green, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 9:45-10:45am at the church.
