Bernadette "Bonnie" Chrysler (née Lavin), 87, of Waverly, Pa., passed away unexpectedly at home. She was the loving wife of Gerald F. Chrysler, who died in 2022. Jerry and Bonnie met when they were ten years old and were married in 1961.
Born August 24, 1938, in Brooklyn, NY, Bonnie was the daughter of the late Bernard and Madeleine (Davy) Lavin. A nurse by training, Bonnie graduated from St. John's Long Island City Hospital School of Nursing, and she had a special gift in her ability to nurture and comfort others.
Beginning in 2000, she and Jerry spent winters in Boca Grande, Fla., where she was an active member of the community and an avid golfer at the Lemon Bay Golf Club. She was also an accomplished bridge player and enjoyed playing cards several times a week until her death; and she had fond memories of traveling with her husband, especially internationally. Bonnie also had a deep love of animals and found daily joy in feeding the birds and watching the deer that gathered in her yard.
Bonnie was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and she is remembered fondly for the many family holidays and gatherings that she hosted graciously at her home. Her faith was a priority, and she was an active member of St. Gregory's Parish, Clarks Summit, PA and Our Lady of Mercy, Boca Grande, FL
She is survived by her four children, Dawn Bovard (David), Scott Chrysler, Susan Winebrake (James), and Jeffrey Chrysler; her sister, Patricia Denver; nine grandchildren, Matthew and Ryan Bovard; Samantha (Zack), Kyle, and Ashley Chrysler; and James (Casey), Deaven, Samuel, and Katherine Winebrake; her great-grandson Griffin Winebrake; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Madeleine Wasiak; and her grandson, Brendan Bovard.
The funeral will take place on Friday, Feburary 6, at 11am at St. Gregory's Catholic Church, 330 N. Abington Road, Clarks Green with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated. The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30-11am at the church. Interment will be private at a later date at Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly.
Memorial contributions may be made to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Foundation in memory of Brendan Bovard, 3401 Civic Center Blvd., Philadelphia, PA 19104.
