It is with profoundly heavy hearts, we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our beloved grief support dog, Aspen. Yesterday, Aspen was not himself. After keeping a close eye on him all day and spending the evening at home with him it was obvious his condition was worsening. We decided to take him to the emergency veterinary clinic. Unfortunately, Aspen was internally bleeding after a mass in his abdomen ruptured and, sadly, there was not much that could be done to intervene. Aspen had hemangiosarcoma, an aggressive form of cancer that went undetected until the last night’s rupture. Even with surgery and multiple blood transfusions, the prognosis was poor, and the metastasis rate was high. Our Aspen had been sick for some time and we never knew… We never knew because Aspen always showed up for us, his family, his people, even when he suffering. His loyalty, love and companionship was unwavering and incomparable to anything we have ever experienced. Though this is a tremendous loss we are forever grateful for the 8.5 year that WE got to be in ASPEN’S life. Wherever Aspen is right now we are praying that there are ample trash cans filled with chicken carcasses to raid, endless amounts of carpenter bees to crunch, plenty of land to dig holes in, massive bodies if water to swim and a plenty of beds to stretch out across. We love you SO MUCH, Biggy. Thank you for loving us.
