Agnes R. Russomano Snyder, 83, of Clarks Summit, died Tuesday at Celtic Hospice Geisinger South. She was the widow of Donald F. Snyder, who died Nov. 19, 2008. The couple were married more than 57 years.
Born June 7, 1934, in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Canio and the late Antoinette Pizzuti Russomano. Her late stepfather was Florey Talerico.
A longtime resident of Clark Summit, she a graduate of West Scranton High School and attended Lycoming College. She formerly worked at the Clarks Summit State Hospital, then she was an optician for Drs. Boland, Kerli and Davis, Clarks Summit. She was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Church.
Agnes, aka as the Judge and "Gram," by many. She loved her family trips to Disney and had a special touch for growing plants and flowers. She enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. Her life revolved around the children related or not; they were her pride and joy of her life. Her kitchen was known for its revolving door, on which the sign read "Welcome to Grandma & Grampa's always opened."
The family wishes to express a special thank you to Dr. "Mike" Kondash for his many years of TLC and to her many caregivers at home, GCMC and the wonderful staff at Celtic Hospice, Wilkes-Barre.
Surviving are two sons, Donald and wife, Daria, South Abington Twp.; and Thomas and wife, Noelle, Roaring Brook Twp.; a daughter, Antoinette Carpenter and husband, Jerry, Clarks Summit; nine grandchildren, Santina Carpenter Williams and husband, Danny; Marissa Carpenter (caregiver); Ashley Snyder Schoch and husband, Jared; Donald M. Snyder and wife, Diana; Thomas Jr., Tanner and Ty Snyder, Josh Slocum and Doug Bunavage; and five great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Bonventure Russomano.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit, to be celebrated by Monsignor Joseph G. Quinn, pastor. Interment, St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.
The family will receive relatives and friends Friday, 5 to 8 p.m., at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit.
