Andrew Paul Tomasko, 89, of Clarks Summit, died Thursday, in Regional Hospital of Scranton. He is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Catherine “Kay” Munley Tomasko.
Born August 13, 1933, in Homer City, he was the son of the late Andrew Paul and Mary (Scribe) Tomasko.
Paul was graduate of South Scranton Catholic High School and the New York Institute of Finance. He was a lifelong stockbroker.
He was a member of Church of St. Gregory, Clarks Green, and was a member of the Country Club of Scranton for almost 40 years. He was a champion golfer, having won several tournaments at his home course and at courses all over the East Coast. He was most proud of his four holes in one. He served 22 years on the Lackawanna County Library System’s board and during his tenure held the positions of president and treasurer.
Paul played a mean game of gin rummy and was a World War II historian with expert knowledge of the war in the Pacific. He was kind, funny and loving and will be missed forever by those who love him.
Also surviving are a son, Andrew Paul Tomasko, wife Erica Tomasko, and grandson Andrew Paul Tomasko, Oreland, a daughter Cathy Tomasko and her husband Attorney Paul Pauciulo, Drexel Hill, his niece Andrea Aveline, Clarks Summit, and grandnephew Anthony Aveline, Clarks Summit. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Grace Utz, Eleanor Aveline, and Marcella Tomasko.
The funeral will be Wednesday, with Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. to be celebrated by Rev. John M. Lapera, pastor. Interment at Cathedral Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. at the Church of St. Gregory.
