Salvatore LaRusso

Salvatore R. LaRusso, 85, of Factoryville, died Friday at Allied Skilled Nursing Facility, Scranton.

Born April 13, 1932, in Dunmore, he was the son of the late Leonard and Angeline Mack LoRusso. A Factoryville resident since 1980, having moved from Dalton, he was formerly of Dunmore. He was a graduate of Dunmore High School. He was a chef/baker and owned and operated Golden Chain Catering. He also was head chef at the Jermyn Hotel and later was a pressman for Scranton Garment.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Parish, Clarks Summit, and was a former member of Newton Volunteer Fire Company, where he was a first aid instructor, and Amalgamated Ladies Garment Workers Union.

A loving father, he was a single parent raising his three children. He enjoyed baking and will be remembered for his famous wedding cakes and delicious cinnamon buns. His gentle smile will be sadly missed.

Surviving are two sons, Salvatore and wife, Marcia, Elizabethtown; and Michael and wife, Lora, Shippensburg; a daughter, Doreen Shelton, Scranton; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Lucy Anderson, Bernetta Gallagher and Ann Jones; and a brother, Joseph LoRusso.

The funeral will be Saturday at noon from the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit, with services by Chaplain Theresa Doughty, Allied Services Hospice. Interment, St. Mary of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Dunmore,
