Maureen McAllister

Maureen E. (Graham) Burger McAllister, 83, Factoryville, died Sunday in Geisinger Community Medical Center. Her first husband, Norman Burger, and second husband, John McAllister, preceded her in death. Born June 12, 1931, in Scranton, daughter of the late Patrick and Matilda (Fabri) Graham, she lived in Factoryville, and was formerly of West Scranton. She was a 1949 graduate of West Scranton High School. Before retiring, she was a computer analyst at Metropolitan Life, Clarks Summit. She was a member of Our Lady of the Abingtons Church, Dalton, and the Ladies Auxiliary of Abington Memorial VFW Post 7069. She was a loving mother, and central in her life were her grandchildren, Shane and Amanda, who lived with her, along with her other grandchildren whom she adored, Billy, Heather, Amy, Nate, Tommy, Justin, Ross, Raymond, Sean and Norman. She was an avid fan and frequent visitor of Walt Disney World. She was a fan of country music, and music played a special role in her life. While working at Capitol Records, she met her first husband, Norman, which is where it all began.Surviving are a daughter, Maureen Hirschler and husband, Thomas, Factoryville: three sons, Norman Burger and wife, Lauri, Fort Mohave, Ariz.; Patrick Burger and wife, Debbie, Clarks Summit: and James Burger and wife, Cheryl, Factoryville; a sister, Eleanor Burger, Scranton; a brother, Robert Graham, Scranton; 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a son, William Burger; and two brothers, Patrick and Jerry Graham.The funeral will be Thursday from Our Lady of the Abingtons, 700 W. Main St., Dalton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. to be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas J. Petro. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Abingtons, 700 W. Main St., Dalton, PA 18414.
