Marie Royce

Marie T. (Toolan) Royce, 57, of Ransom, died Wednesday in Geisinger Community Medical Center. She was the wife of Alan Royce. The couple celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary March 20.

Born Jan. 30, 1959, in Somers Point, N.J., she was the daughter of Mildred (Gentles), St. Augustine, Fla.; and the late John Toolan.

She was 1977 graduate of Abington Heights High School. Three years ago, she moved from West Scranton to her dream home in Ransom Twp. She formerly was employed at Howard Garner School of Discovery. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Scranton, a past president of the PTA at John Marshal School, Scranton.

"Rie" was a loving wife and devoted mother, randmother and daughter. She was active in events and programs that her children participated in. Her children and grandchildren were her life. She loved the beach and was a lover of animals.

Also surviving are a son, Shane, Clarks Summit; two daughters, Taylor Royce, Clarks Summit; Alysse Ritter and husband, Timothy; a granddaughter, Layla; and a grandson, Timothy, Peckville; two brothers, Matthew Toolan and wife, Marlene, Lake Winola; and Shawn Toolan, Scranton; two sisters, Monica Royce and husband, Donald, Newton Twp.; and Maureen Marino, Morgantown, W. Va.; nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10 a.m. from St. Patrick's Church, 1403 Jackson St., Scranton, to be celebrated by the Rev. Martin M. Boylan. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. The family will receive relatives and friends Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
