Louise Manzione

Louise Mary (Farbizio) Manzione, 94, Clarks Summit, died Sunday in the arms of her loved ones at Abington Manor.

Born Aug. 4, 1919, the second of nine children to her loving mother and father, Nicholas and Antoinette (Rozano) Farbizio, Louise believed that a penny saved was a penny earned. With this saying, she provided for her children when she raised them after her husband, Peter Manzione, died Feb. 10, 1965, at the young age of 46. Louise worked until she was 89 years old. As a young woman, she was in the advertising department at Lord and Taylor in New York. In 1982 at the age of 60, Louise began her work with the Scranton Lackawanna Human Development Agency, Child Care Providers Program at Keystone College with Fran Langan and Kate Jones, where she made lifelong friends and worked for 20 years.

Louise was an organizing member of the Church of St. Gregory, Clarks Green, and a former member of Our Lady of the Snows and its Women's Guild, where she served as president in 1966 and 1967. She was a member of the Abington Women's Club and an active volunteer.

Louise was known for her organization and sense of style. Her last words were prayers, as she was devoted to her Catholic faith that gave her great joy, peace and humility. She taught her grandchildren to see the Lord as a dear friend who never left their sides and was always there to guide them.

Louise could make others laugh because she was never afraid to give her opinion. She always fed the birds and deer in her yard. She was devoted to her family and friends and not only helped to raise her younger brothers and sisters, but also her grandchildren for whom she was the rock of the family. Louise was loved as passionately as she loved.

Surviving are a son, Peter Manzione; a daughter, Andrea Dorsey Kerzetski and her husband, Joe; four brothers, Anthony, Frank, Charles and Arthur; five granddaughters; a grandson; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Michele Manzione; two sisters, Marie Welcome and Dorothy Breinlinger; and two brothers, Nicholas and John.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Church of St. Gregory, 330 N. Abington Road, Clarks Green, by Father John M. Lapera. Interment, Clarks Green Cemetery. Arrangements are made by the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit.

There will be no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Keystone College Children's Center, One College Ave., La Plume, PA 18440.
