John Lomeo

John Paul Lomeo, Clarks Summit, died Monday, in VNA Hospice Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center with his loving wife and cherished children at his bedside. He was the husband of the former Edith Mae Neary. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past June 29, 2013.

Born in Clarks Summit, he was the son of the late Sam and Viola (Farino) Lomeo. He resided most of his life in South Abington Twp., having lived out of the area for 10 years. He was a 1953 graduate of Clarks Summit Joint High School. He honorably served in the US Army for four years, having served three years in Germany. He had been active in the US Army Reserves for over five years and served 25 years with the Navy Seabees Battalion. He owned and operated the family excavating company for many years and later he worked as a consulting engineer.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Parish, Clarks Summit, and the Chinchilla Hose Company, where he had served as fire chief for over 11 years having held various other offices. He was active in organizations with his children and was an organizing member of the Abington Astros Pee-Wee Football organization.

John's happiest moments were the good times shared with the love of his life, his family. He always enjoyed the summers in Canada with his family.

Also surviving are two sons, Thomas and Joseph and wife, Lisa, all of Clarks Summit; two daughters, Margaret Lomeo-Jeffrey and husband, Al, Dalton; and Judy Mackiw and husband, Michael, Alexandria, Va.; nine grand children; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert, South Abington Twp.; three sisters, Marie Dominiak, Clarks Summit; Jean Kosinski, Punta Gorda, Fla.; and Josephine Supinski, Clarks Summit; nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Kevin; daughter-in-law, Debra Lomeo; and two brothers, Joseph and Samuel Lomeo.

The funeral will be Thursday with Mass at 10 a.m. from Our Lady of the Snows, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment, St. Joseph's Cemetery, Scott Twp.

The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit.
