Jean Botscheller

Jean F. Leadbeater Botscheller, 88, of Lake Winola, died Sunday in VNA Hospice Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center. She was the widow of Joseph C., who died July 31, 1993. The couple had been married more than 49 years.

Born March 30, 1925, in Factoryville, daughter of the late Albert and Frances Smith Leadbeater, she lived at Lake Winola since 1995, having moved from Dalton, where she and her family operated an apple orchard for many years. She was a graduate of Factoryville High School and received her certification as a licensed practical nurse from Robert Packer Hospital School of Nursing, Sayre.

She was a devoted, loving wife and mother. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and their gatherings. She shared her gentleness and smile with everyone she met. Her warm-hearted kindness will be sadly missed.

Surviving are two sons, Joseph Jr. and wife, Dianne, Dalton; and David and wife, Deborah, Dalton; two daughters, Janice White, Dalton; and Bonnie Wasilisin and husband, Jack, Falls; grandchildren, Michelle Huerbin, Jennifer Wasilisin Burns, Amanda and Sarah Botscheller; David Botscheller Jr., Deborah Petty, Linda Hood, Daniel Buranich, Kim Duckworth, Chad Clark, Olivia Pompey and Natalie Whitney; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Brenna, Billy, Samantha, Tory, Benjamin, Regan, Andrew and Katharine; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Buranich, on Nov. 1, 2010; two sisters, Alice Noonan and Betty Rought Aten; a brother, Harold Leadbeater; and a grandson, Christopher Kenowski.

A blessing service will be Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit, by Monsignor James J. McGarry, pastor, Our Lady of the Snows Church. Interment will be private in Fairview Cemetery, Mill City.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m.
