Forest F. "Butch" Hendrickson III, 79, Clarks Summit, died Saturday in Allied Services Hospice Center. His wife of over 50 years was the late Judith Ann Babushko, who died March 27.

Born June 6, 1938, in Scranton, son of the late Robert and Hazel (Smock) Hendrickson, Butch was a 1956 graduate of Clarks Summit High School and attended Keystone College before entering the United States Marines, where he honorably served. He began his professional career in the printing industry for his family's business, Eureka Printing, Dunmore. A lifelong career in the printing industry, he was supervisor for Specialty Printers of America, Scranton, for several years and retired from Eureka Printing. He was a life member of the Clarks Summit Fire Company 1 Inc. and had served as fire chief and in other offices. He was also a member of the Abington Memorial Post 7069, VFW.

A kind and gentle man, he was a loving husband and devoted to his family; he idolized his sons and grandson. A talented craftsman, carpenter and cabinet maker, he was the neighborhood handyman and always willing to help others. An avid sportsman and outdoorsman, he enjoyed deer hunting. He enjoyed football and was an avid New York Giants fan. His sense of humor and gentle smile will be sadly missed.

The family would like to thank the staff of Allied Hospice for its compassionate, kind and loving care.

Surviving are two sons, Forest IV and wife, Lori, Clarks Summit; and Scott and wife, Kate, Philadelphia; a brother, Robert and wife, Maryann, Clifford Twp.; two sisters, Linda Dougherty and husband, Sam, Hollidaysburg; and Laura Lee and husband, Jim Holtz, Falls; a grandson, Forest Hendrickson V, Clarks Summit; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by sister, Neva Hendrickson O'Brien.

The funeral will be Thursday with a blessing service at 10:30 a.m. from Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit. Interment, Clarks Green Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Services Inc. Members of the Memorial Post 7069, VFW, will conduct a service Wednesday at 6 p.m.
